Kung Fu Program

Sigung John Oliver Peel designed this modern Kung Fu system based on tradiional Chinese martial arts. Kung Fu means "disciplined expertise." This ancient Chinese martial art was originally developed by the Shaolin monks in the Honan province of China starting in the 6th century and later the Wudang monks who focused more on internal energy. Physical training balanced their sedentary lives. Understanding the importance of a focused mind and strong chi the monks created a unique health and fighting system that influenced all of Asia.

The practice of martial arts will help you build lasting physical strength and higher levels of agility. Diligent practice will greatly increase focus, develop discipline, and cultivate the will to persevere and to achieve.

Our training begins with the classics, i.e. the Five Animals - Dragon, Leopard, Snake, Tiger, and Crane. Later you will advance to a more internal style where mind and spirit are trained. The various styles give you versatility and develop the many different aspects of the whole self.  The soft styles build internal power and allow you to deal with much stronger opponents as well as having wonderful health benefits. The hard styles build endurance and muscular strength.

We believe in combining styles and in developing a well rounded set of skills. We teach Chinese Grappling (Chin-na), strikes, take downs, pins, pressure points, and defense against weapons.

You will also study the staff, sword, three sectional staff and iron body training. Conditioning the palm and fist, with the use of grains and herbs allows you to do stone break.

To round out our training program, we have included the Japanese art of Kenjitsu (sword).

Temple Knights continues to develop the art. We think of our style as the stepping stone between the traditions of the past and the Jedi.
